The New York Times wrote that it is "one of the most stunning meetings of land and sea in the world."The Washington Times stated that it is "one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world, an isolated stretch of road, mythic in reputation."Writers have compared it to other natural wonders like the Grand Canyon. “Big Sur is the California that men dreamed of years ago, this is the Pacific that Balboa looked at from the Peak of Darien, this is the face of the earth as the Creator intended it to look.”

Vintage Hollywood car enthusiasts were in for a big treat at this year's Concours d’Elegance. The Reactor, which starred in episodes of Bewitched and Star Trek, along with other just-for-Hollywood turbo charged creations made an appearance it this year's event.
From Mike Eppinger's Old Cars Weekly piece: "Stargazers with dreams too big for a small town often pack their bags and head for one city: Hollywood. Legendary custom car builder Gene Winfield is a man who had very big dreams, but not for himself. His aspiration was to create a futuristic, aluminum-bodied custom automobile."

Post Ranch Inn //
Source: Travel + Leisure The hotel opened in 1992 and is made up entirely of small buildings set on a ridge high above the Pacific. In 2008 Post Ranch added 10 new sculptural structures, spiraling Pacific Suites, cantilevered Peak Houses, and Richard Serra-esque Cliff houses clad in torques of rusted steel. Staying in a Pacific Suite, wherever you stand you are exposed to the ocean and the sky but unseen by other guests. Even the tiled bath, big enough for two, has a commanding vista, and a floor-to-ceiling window that opens to let in Pacific breezes. The walls are paneled in redwood salvaged from old wine barrels and sheet metal art adorns the bathroom. Sierra Mar, the hotel restaurant will pack you a lunch to take down the Pacific Coast Highway in a Lexus convertible that guests can borrow for free. The mini-bar is complimentary, so take advantage on your balcony overlooking the ocean.
In Monocle's new "Secret to..." series, supper club host Gabriel Waterhouse shares his tips on organising a friendly feast in your home with great-quality food and (just as important) an entertaining atmosphere.

Who says Carmel has nothing to offer your demographic?
You tell us when and were and we'll bring a free-spirited, informal-yet-luxurious scene for your guests. This is a perfect off-site experience for groups staying locally. This event was created for a group of 40 in Carmel. Client wanted to wow their team with something totally unexpected but was concerned about the crisp Fall weather. There is something really special about this time of year on the Carmel coast and we brought it with luxurious faux fur throws. There was no bad seat to movie-watch with ample plush seating vignettes.
Currently Underway for Groups Coming to the Monterey Peninsula this Fall // For groups of 100+: For this original experience, we are taking over a forgotten urban space to create an ephemeral industrial LUX secret cinema. Don't worry, there will be plenty of fresh fur throws to take home!

The three destinations picks below made our list because of sustainable qualities like handmade craftsmanship, heritage, and above all else - the simple wonderfulness of each product. Each is held at a time-honored shop, none is widely advertised, and all are limited in quantity to ensure quality. It won't hurt to inquire in advance of your trip to the Village. (Note, we don't earn a commission on these products and are in no way incentivized to promote them. These are our personal, local luxe favorites and we hope you love them as much as we do!)Read More
"This is the way life goes in Big Sur. Waiting for the mail, watching the sea-lions in the surf or the freighters on the horizon, sitting in the tubs at Hot Springs, once in a while a bit of drink- and, most of the time, working at what ever it is that you came here to work on, whether it be painting, writing, gardening or the simple art of living your own life."
- Hunter S. Thompson
